Sharing another bathroom project with you today! This is in the same home as the sage green primary bath that we featured previously, so it was important that these bathrooms felt like they belonged in the same home. This bathroom is the main bath in the home, so it serves guests as well as other family members. These clients no longer have kids living at home, but adult children and grandchildren do come to visit.

One way to change the way your space looks is to make sure it’s well lit. You’ll probably be able to list off lighting complaints without thinking twice, but it’s also helpful to step back and survey your space at different times of day. Lighting falls into one of three categories:

Sharing a completed project today, and as always, we’re starting with the floor plan. These clients came to us after the demo was partially under way - they realized that they weren’t sure what to do once they finished that step. The bath is a primary bathroom in a raised ranch, so the footprint is small, and they had two more spaced to complete, so budget was also something to keep in mind.

Have you ever been listing to someone tell a story and they’re just meandering on - there’s no direction, seemingly no purpose and you just want to yell “GET TO THE POINT!”? Well, having a room without a focal point isn’t quite so frustrating, but it can feel similarly directionless and without purpose.

Today I have a quick interior design tip to share, and its a small detail that can really go a long way in changing how a room feels. As a designer, one of the first places my eye goes to in a room is the area rug. In this instance, bigger is oftentimes better as the rug is doing the heavy lifting of setting the scale of the room and grounding the main furniture layout. One large rug is a million times better than one (or more!)

Interior design is and always will be a luxury service, but by offering the service virtually, we are able to streamline the interior design process to just the elements most essential to the client and offer the service at a lower price point than traditional interior design services.

The design inspiration for a project typically starts percolating as I’m first talking to the clients, so even though the first blog post was all about the space planning the colors, textures and overall vibe that gets put into the renderings after doesn’t necessarily start after. As I mentioned in that first post, this home was a ski lodge for the family, however they didn’t want the design pigeon-holed into that traditional ski lodge aesthetic. They were a bit more modern, bold and fashion-forward. They wanted something that felt warm and cozy during the winter months but would feel fresh and energetic the rest of the year, too.
