AVD | who we are

Before we dive into the design content here on The Abode Anthology, I think it’s important to take a moment to introduce who we are as a company. Interior design has been a lifelong passion for me. Having a functional, put-together room that fits your style and lifestyle can transform so much for yourself and your family. Hiring a professional interior designer IS a luxury service, but there is so much we can do to make it more accessible for more people. That is what I set out to do when I founded Abode Virtual Design.

I received my BFA in interior design, and began working in the field in 2005. Several years ago I was running a similarly structured business, however, in a pre-COVID world, clients were leery of virtual services and the infrastructure to do so wasn’t what it is today (thank you Zoom!). Going virtual goes hand-in-hand with streamlining services down from what a typical interior design firm offers, which is helpful in keeping the price point of services accessible for more people. From there, I looked at what the most helpful pieces of information were to give - what would offer clients the most flexibility as they implemented the design? How could I create a system and a company that would offer that information with the most personalization, the most value in a way that was still efficient enough to keep that price point accessible? And here we are.
