Quick Tip No. 5 | Break It Down
Large spaces can be fabulous! The challenge that they can pose is feeling cold when you’d rather it feel cozy. It can depend on just how big your space is, but sometimes a large space can be better served by being broken up into smaller zones. This is especially helpful if you need the space to serve multiple functions:
Adult entertaining + kid play
TV watching + conversation zones
Homework space + family gathering
By creating smaller areas within a space, you’re creating “rooms within rooms” which will bring the scale down and make things feel much more cozy and like home. This is also a great way to manipulate the space to better suit your lifestyle. If you have an unused corner of a family room that is typically used for TV watching, but a family member is wishing for a workspace or a reading nook, that corner can be utilized for that purpose.
