3 Tips for Sun-Fading
Have you ever moved your furniture and realized that the sun had faded your rug, floor or another piece of your home? Sun rays coming through a window can do a lot of damage, but I have three tips on how to help prevent it!
Window Film
Window film is a great add-on that is otherwise invisible - there are no changes necessary to your home decor. It’s a film that gets applied right to the glass of your windows and helps filter out the rays that do the harmful damage. You can also add a privacy filter if you have close neighbors and need an extra bit of privacy between you and them.
Sun Shades
Solar shades can be layered in under decorative window treatments (or used as stand alone treatments) that help filter out the light as well. They are available in different light filtering percentages, and if sun fading is your main concern you’d be able to still see out while getting the protection you need. An added bonus to these is that they can help with cooling bills by keeping the heat from the sun out as well, and also cut down on glare if the sun is spilling into a room that is used for TV watching or a computer screen.
Indoor / Outdoor Textiles
Indoor / Outdoor textiles are wonderful - they now offer the look and feel of high end indoor fabrics with outstanding performance and cleanability. Another benefit of fabrics designed for outdoor use is they are rated for sunfastness - meaning that they can withstand exposure to the sun without being faded or bleached by the light. If you have a lot of windows and are dealing with this issue at home, using these textiles are a great alternative to the previous options PLUS you get the added benefits of their durability!
