Quick Tip No. 8 | Panelling on a Budget
Our clients are often working on a budget or hiring us in conjunction with DIY-ing projects themselves - and this quick design tip is perfect for those scenarios.
Adding paneling - or the look of paneling - is an amazing way to add an architectural feature to your walls. It’s more interesting than paint and is a great option if you’re not sure that wallpaper is right for you.
The way to achieve a paneled look on a budget is to purchase molding from the local hardware store or lumber yard and apply it directly to the drywall. Typical panelling is fully fabricated out of wood, including the backing. You will need to do some math to work out how big your panels should be (or hire a fabulous design team to help).
Once you’re done you can paint the panelling and walls out to match for the fully paneled look. Another option - for a more decorated look - would be to wallpaper the inside of the panels.
