My 3 Favorite Kitchen Features

A kitchen renovation is a stressful yet exciting time. Stressful because its a large investment, and your kitchen is the heart of the home - it’s not an easy thing to go without for the duration of the renovation. And, especially if you’re doing a full gut and rebuild, these renovations can never be done soon enough.

Kitchen renovations can be exciting, not only for the new look, but the new functionality you get. There is nothing quite like being able to function day-to-day in a kitchen that has all of the bells and whistles that you requested and functions in a way you only dreamed of.

Today, I’m sharing my three favorite features to include in kitchen renovations. Keep in mind that these aren’t always the biggest or most expensive features, nor are they the feature that is right for your personal kitchen.

  1. Accessible Appliance storage

Whether it’s pop ups, countertop appliance garages or drawer pull-outs, any way that enables those small appliances to be hidden when not in use but easily accessible and ready to go when you need them. Quite often, when these storage solutions are integrated in new cabinetry, the appliances can remain plugged in when stored, making it even easier to have them ready when you are.

  2. Grab-and-Go Station

This is a big one for families and entertainers alike: designating a space for self-service that is outside the main kitchen prep area. This may be integrated with a morning kitchen or entertaining bar. It may be more tailored for kids to grab snacks and drinks without going near ovens and stoves. Or, it may allow guests to grab drinks, appetizers or whatever they may need in the kitchen without being in the way of the meal preparation.

  3. Hot Water Faucet

This last one might be the least well known- a secondary sink faucet with a filtered hot water tank below. The benefit? Hot water at the push of a button. No more waiting for water to boil for small amounts - like cups of tea.
